The only disadvantage to a sickle hook that I have found is that if you straighten out and bend it back a few times it usually breaks. Those sickle hooks are for sure sharper and hook deeper in the mouth. My favorite size is almost impossible to find a #6 sickle jig with a 1/16 head.
Yes I love #6 hooks for most of my fishing. I do have some baits that I use #2 and#4 with, But for the most part #6 with a 1/20 oz head is my go to jig.
