thats what i was going to guess, i have been doing some research and the most common substitute looks like bismuth which is still expensive, so i can only imagine how much tungston would cost you per jig skip

Yes you are and this one I think is close to 1/16. I know you have been around here long enough to remember that, but I bet there is a good many that have not see it.

Only problem is cost. Can't get these for any thing close to $10 a hundred, LOL!

You know I have still not fished with one yet.

I'm curious, what is the price for 100? Would 1/32 cost less because less material is used?

Ok let me say this. I know most would be buying retail and it looks like there are a couple different ones. The one in the picture here is a Slotted Head and they sell for $8.95 for 20 on the larger size like in this picture. This is the largest I have found. Then smaller ones like this sell for $6.25 for 20.

Then there is something called a Cyclops Beads that are some less, but still less colors at something like $2.25 per 24 count. I did see some of these at $7.95 for 100, but these I believe weigh less.

The slotted beads will fit on sickle hooks, but not as well we some other jig hooks. The Cyclops fit cost better, but not as heavy I think and not as good. Will they work? Sure, but the heaviest I have found is 1/40 Oz. so anyone that likes even 1/16 can't get there.

I have a place I can get larger numbers, but don't remember the cost for the heavier heads/beads. So for a reasonable size that is more than 1/32 or close to 1/16 is almost $0.40 each retail. Even wholesale they are like 0.25 each.

So buying them by the 100 or stocking a bunch of these is going to be expensive and lets just compare a 1/16 Oz. jig to a Jig made with one of these. Your starting off with a jig head with hook that cost a couple times what it was before and you have to buy the color you want if they have it???? You have about 8 or 9 colors to choose from including silver, gold, black and a few other colors. I have some of each color I think.

As far as 1/32 costing less or not; The one here is 7/32" and is close to 1/16 Oz. and if you drop to 5/32" it's weight is already dropped to about 1/64 Oz. I have not weighed the 3/16" so am guessing some when I say I think they are going to be close to 1/32 Oz. the price drops on each of these 3 and all the smaller ones are the same price. Each of these biggest 3 sizes are not much difference in price and only drop maybe 0.50 per pack.

Oh and I have also looked at using a cone head on a fly hook and they are even higher cost.
