A good oven thermometer is a must when using a toaster oven, you can get them at Wal-Mart for $4 and a toaster oven for $20 brand new.

For me, heating the jigs one at a time just makes the job more tedious than it needs to be.
I think I will get just the toaster oven, I always get caught up in gotta have this and got to have that.

I use the regular oven and make sure to do plenty. When done EZ Off oven cleaner gets sprayed in and I clean it all out. Have not had any problems.

Remember if you get a toaster oven make sure to get thermometer for inside to make sure your getting the right temp.

GCD, at what temp are you preheating your 40 jigs and for how long? Do you take one out and return the rack with jigs back in the oven with the oven still on?

I tried this after heating jigs in 300 degree oven but the jigs didn't get hot enough to melt the powder paint that well. I gave up and went back to using a heat gun. Your way would be a time saver if I can get it right. I would appreciate any suggestions you might give me.

Go to a second hand shop - ie Salvation Army, Goodwill, etc - look for a used toaster oven - you should find them cheap - a $1 or 2 should cover it.

I use a mapp gas or propane torch to heat my jig heads. Then I put them in a cheapo Walmart toster oven to bake and cure. Works well.

Be careful using a candle to head your jig heads. I painted about 50 with a candle and the soot caused the paint to flake off of every single one of them.

I use an oil lamp to heat mine up. Works well with no soot from balck smoke. I have painted a few thousand jigs with it and have not had to fill it once. I also bought a $18 toaster oven from Wal-Mart. I can put 50 jigs in it set timer and walk away from it until next time I feel like painting. Then I will bag up those 50 and dip 50 more and put them in to cure and walk away. Worked well for me for a winter time project. Just recently found a deal on painted jigs for less than I can buy the jigs for. So that is why I started tying recently. That will be my new winter project for when the lake is frooze over.
