    Default Powder Paint

How many jigs can you roughly guess you can get out of one of them jars. I tied a few bucktails today and the paint on the heads are cracking, trying to be a cheapskate and it didnot work. Also can you bake the heads in a microwave rather than a stove. As soon as I learn how to post some picks I will put a few on here, the jigs are alittle rough but all in all for my first time not to bad. The more I am doing the better they are looking. Thanks

One of them little jars will paint a ton of jigs. I use an alcohol lamp for heating my jig heads.

Never had any head or paint crack, so what do you mean.

Oh no, you need to get some good powder paint and there are lot out there, but I find that if Pro-Tec has it that is the brand I want because if works better in a fluid bed. Also easier to fluff in a jar, just is. When that stuff is cured properly in an oven, it's hard as heck.

What Skip said!!!!!!!!!!!! I still have some that I paint by hand but I also cover with 2 part epoxy.

I think it was on the Canadien lure making site that they had done about
300+ 3/8th oz jigs with a 2 oz. jar. That's gonna make for alot of 1/16th and 1/32 oz jigs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have done 300 1/8 ounce jig heads from one 4 ounce jar and I have enough to paint another 300 even in my fluid bed. Then probably another 3-500 just dipping before it gets too low to really work right.

If you can find one, get an alcohol burner, candles work fine but are a pain to keep the wick just the right length for steady heating. I have never used anything but a candle, can't find an alcohol burner localy.
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.

I've been using cheap adjustable cigarette lighters with powder paint for about 20 years now.A heat gun will work as well but mine is too noisy. I get my jig down in the blue part of the flame, hotter there.

I went out and bought some pro tec, I know to cure in a stove, but if someone doesnt have a extra stove what else could you do to cure the jigs.
