I have bought a lot of commercial fishing glow in the dark beads with mixed results. Hard beads, soft beads and the rest.
I traded a neighborhood kid some orange for some Glow in the dark Air Soft pellets and let me tell you they glow better than any beads I have ever found from a fishing company. Under my lighting in my room, compact screw in flourescent bulbs after only 10 minutes they glow for almost an hour. And this with them on my dresser more than 10 feet from the light. they even glow bright and for about an hour from the light from the TV being right beside it.
Granted they have no holes in them but I think I have a plan for making a new jig with them. Stay tuned and I will post them when I get them done.
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.

its slow going but heat a needle and melt a hole though it...![]()
I was thinking a small drill bit but will try a hot needle also.

Sorry, had to change the tv time, is only half hour glow. Not sure why the TV does well at all, could have flourescent light spectrums, who knows.
I have done some other testing and flourescents work much better than my LED flashlights. It could have to do with the Fl lights are daylight bulbs and growing bulbs but none the less they work a lot better.
I can only imagine how bright they would glow under a strong UV LED flashlight after a minute.
After 20 minutes of a quick charge with my LED, NOT uv, flashlight they glowed visible for 20 minutes. If I can still see it, fish can see it for sure at night in clear water.
I doubt they will do better than a good quality glow paint but hey, they can be used so many more ways.

I don't limit my use of glow lures for just night fishing, they work really well on cloudy days, in muddy water, and fishing deep water during daylight hours too!
I haven't really had that good of results fishing fully charged glow baits at night in clear water, it freaks my fish out because it doesn't look natural I think... but that's prolly just me and my very picky fish.
How about putting some on your line a few inches up from your jig. It might attract them to investigate and see a natural looking jig and just eat it.
Hot needle to those soft pellets will work just fine. Use forceps to clamp on to the needle. Heat over a candle flame. Introduce the needle to the pellet. Remove needle. Voila' a hole!
