back into medical. Not fixing lasers as I had been since the mid 80's but am fixing machines that process slides for pathology. Oh I still plan to tie for myself and maybe some close friends but not like I had been. Skip can atest to this. With so many orders and tying all day long it stops being a hobby and more like a factory and you have time for nothing else

Harleyboy,
See you on the lake, will be around Terrys new dock and section of the lake this spring. Heading over next weekend,,,if it don't rain!!
lazerdoc is right on. I started this to have something to do when I quit trading the markets which I had been doing for about 15 years and looked around thinking I can not just watch TV all day and I just can't go fishing all the time. My back would never take that or I would have started to guide again I think. So just started to see if I could tie jig and catch fish with them. Well it turned into something I never thought of and at times it is much less than fun.
Now if I get a few days (very rare) I like to tie stuff for me and I am planning on doing some soon I hope. Want to tie some soft hackle flies and spider flies which are very similar.
Anyway if one works at a regular job I just couldn't imagine trying to do that and doing this too. Heck you would never have time for self and fishing or anything else.

i myself have just quit my job of about 5 years to try my life long dream of opening my own tackle store. Only about 3 around this area closest one is about 20 miles away.... so i am doing the opposite doc lol good luck.....
Hey good luck with that and I would love to do that too, but too many already here and too much money to do that right. Besides I don't want to go to a store every day and wouldn't be able to do it by my self with my back troubles. Heck every little store around here has a huge tackle section in it, plus a bunch of marinas all around this lake even if it does have 1200 miles of shoreline, LOL!
I wish you every good break and hope it is just what you wish for!

Well Dave,
I am sure that you will always do what is best for you and your family. Congratulations on securing a job when so many are desperately seeking work. God has indeed showered you with blessings. You do have great skills in the jig making business. I encourage you to continue to tie and create in your off time away from the job. I promise you it will relieve the stressors on your job. Have fun fishin and I'll see you on the water.
