Shad Patterns
Does anyone have a pattern they use to imitate shad? I have been still playing with the Arkansas Bucktail fly pattern but on larger jig heads. The top one is a 1/4 oz. with a 3/0 hook and the other 2 are 1/8 oz with a 2/0 hook, both gamakatsu.

These are not meant for crappie..... I am hoping I can get me some walleye as the shad die off up here on Erie. Around Thanksgiving is the prime time to fish for them from the docks. Most people use husky jerks, shad raps or rattle traps. I plan on using some cheater floats pegged on the line above these to slow them down and keep them off the rocky bottom.... and soaking in some fish oil as well. :D
My favorite so far is the bottom one with the silver chennile collar. The middle one is the last one I made and I think I finally got the pattern down. Do you just use gray/black color to get the shad look or does anyone know of a different pattern? Thanks - AF
