As I see it, you don't need to go for a high priced camera with a ton of stuff you probably won't ever use, unless you know you will use those functions. I've spent alot on one before and never could get it to do everything it was supposed to do. With even the cheaper kodak and others you are still looking at 6 MegaPixels or so which is more than enough for size and quality. As long as it has a Macro function you will be good for jig picts. Biggest thing IMO is to get a small tripod, this will increase the quality of those close-ups alot!

I am using a $60 kodak right now and am happy with the quality of the picts, biggest complaint would be color out-put not quite right, but I just fix that in PhotoShop when I resize. Also does not stabilize well when shooting in Macro so the tripod is a must.
