Time is now to get out there
Crappie biting at: big creek, brushy creek and badger creek. Been catching limits. No giants yet but a bunch of 9-11" with a 13" mixed in.
Heading to Rathbun today on a "big fish hunt".
Most of the fish have been blacks so it's still going to be a week or two before the fun ends.

I wish the weather would improve. Wait, tomorrow I go back to work, so it will probably be great. Good luck, hope to have a report with some pics!

I took Friday off so I could do some fishing at BC. I got out there, it was windy, cold and wet. I hit the coves, caught a few "just under keeping size" bass, but no crappie in the shallows. Tried some brush piles, no luck. Spent some time down at lost lake with no luck. In the mean time, it seemed the wind had picked up. I got back on the main lake, and boy had it ever!! Turned in to Williams dock and soaked myself with the waves coming over the boat. I wasn't sure about loading the triton in those waves, but heck, no problem!
I was going to head out today, but it's just too cold and windy. I must be a warm weather fisherman. Well, it's about time to fry up some crappie, so.....later

Hit Rathbun yesterday. That weather will make a man out of ya. 25mph winds back in the coves makes one think about the main lake trip back to the boat ramp...
All went well. Pulled up on the first tree in the water (water level is low for this time of year...hardly any wood to fish) and landed 2 crappie and a 3 lb bass. The wind was incredible and made it really hard to position the boat right when approaching structure. anyways, ended up with a 4 lb bass and 7 crappie after fishing 5 hours. not disappointed as the crappie were just big. no shorts, all over 10" and just absolutely thumping a white twister tail, orange head, road runner. Fun stuff. Bass are spawning too. Caught a few small walleyes and some blue gill too. fun day overall given the weather sucked. next weekend should be primetime there.
