Spent entire young life growing up going to Staunton High School in Clay county. (School long gone now) Cut my teeth as a kid fishing the strip pits of Amax Coal and Chinnock mines. A lot of the huge pits are now gone with 3rd strip mine of the 2 largest drag lines that hammered it. Fished pits from Rockville, to Terre Haute up to Greencastle down all over Linton and Jasonville to Bloomfield. Excellent fishing if you can get permission or find the best left to fish. I now spend my time on bigger water occasionally fishing the Cat, Boggs, Lemon, Monroe, Patoka, and couple of times at Brookville and Dogwood. But, if you get a chance hit those pits.
