Default Anyone have luck on Patoka?

I can go up there and can catch a ton of crappie but very few with any size. I have moved around the lake a bit. Seem to have the best luck for size in spring around walls ramp. Haven't been up there in a few years was wondering if the crappie have started putting on some more size on average. Caught very few over 14 inches there.

Someone needs to hold the dnr's feet to the fire......how many times have you been checked for size and creel at any Indiana lake.....then having to pay 25.00 launch fee's at certain lakes.

I pretty much quit fishing Patoka because of how many small crappie I always catch and went to Barkley and Kentucky lake and Im glad I did but Patoka is closer.

What's the big problem in potaka, not enough food? I saw were it was ranked as the 15th best crappie lake in the US.

JMO,but could be a couple of things
    A. a size limit is needed about of 9" because a lot of people are taking everything they catch and they're not getting a chance to grow.
    OR
    B. there's too many fish and over crowding will keep growth down.
truth is only an in depth fish study will tell which way to go, but something needs to be done. again JMO.

Well with too many fish a size limit would be counter productive since less would be removed. I know crappie are different than bass but same family and a slot limit worked for bass on the same lake. I know the biologist will say this will not work but what they got to lose nothing else has worked.

I fish Patoka a lot - and catch many small paper thin crappie, occasionally a 12" crappie but they are rare. Mostly 5" to 8" fish and paper thin! Try pulling crank baits around Walls, lots of smaller fish but did catch a few larger ones around the Walls ramp.
