A lot of people I know don't put there deer in record book. Cause you state what county you killed it in. And people read that and flock to that county. Just like fishing, we have a guy in my area we call honey hole sealer. He see's you catch crappies and we moves in right beside you or there next day. But its all public water so nothing you can do but go own.

I don't always kill a buck every year as I rack hunt. Passed up several nice bucks this year bow and gun hunting. Still took 3 does for freezer this year. Last 4 of 5 years, took a nice 200 plus pound buck with a plus 18" spread as well. We have excellent deer hunting and I hunt public land as well as my 40 acres. 90% of my kills are on public land so look around for the place you want to hunt. Here in southern Indiana,,its here,,just look.

I dont disagree, ive killed and seen killed really nice deer in Southern Indiana, no experience North. Ky does a really nice job overall though, maybe they just have more water to fish? With KY and Barkley right at the top of Crappie lakes anywhere in the country

Guys, guys, guys. You have it all wrong. There's no good deer hunting in Indiana! The good deer hunting is in Ohio, Illinois, Kentucky, oh and Pennsylvania too!

Speaking of hunting...Ive been going to Patoka for the past 3 years turkey hunting. Always heard it was a decent place for turkeys. I havent seen a single tom yet. No clue what im doing wrong whether its location, time, pressure from other hunters, etc. Any suggestions???? I have shot a few turkeys in my day but none from patoka lake.

I see a couple of people always hunting Patoka for birds. One hunts out of a jon boat, out of Painter Creek and always parks the boat about half way towards the Main body of the lake on the south side. I see birds all the time around the lake. They are there. Hear the shots too. The dude in the jon boat is just using the boat to get where he wants to hunt after checking in on the peninsula that he is hunting. I constantly hear the birds gobbling and working in the spring here and there..good luck.

Sometimes I go there to fish a few weeks before the bird season begins and see them running around the shores sometime....but as soon as they come in season, only thing I seem to see are a couple hens here than there.
