I have Humminbirds and like them alot. Haven't used Lowrance but I'm sure they are just as good. It's a Ford/Chevy thing. I have also been hearing good things about the new Garmins. I went the same route as you in buying small then got bigger and then got the biggest. Bigger is ALWAYS better! I know its alot of money but in the long run it will pay off. Just my .

I agree with old goat about bigger is better, I have the 998 hummingbird and I wish I would have went with the biggest but I was trying to save a few dollars or actually a thousand at the time I bought mine. I would suggest getting the biggest one that you can afford. As far as hummingbird or Lowrance I have used both and I prefer hummingbird over Lowrance but that's my opinion and a lot of people will say Lowrance is better but either which one you go with i am sure you will be pleased with it, you just need to take the time to learn your electronics when you get whatever one you go with.

It depends on what type of person you are!!!! I have had both and humminbird was the easiest to master, but the lowrance has a lot more features!!!! Best of luck!!

When I bought my first si a few
Years ago I was going to get 2 Hb 798s but asked for opinions CDC and everbody always urged to go as big as possible
so took advice and skipped over 898 model and went to 998s and I am so glad I took everybody's advice as it would have been a waste on the smaller screens. It stretched my budget at the time but saved me $ in long run not having been disappointed in smaller screen and then spending more $ on upgrading.

thanks for all the help , im thinking the biggest ,,, might be the last one i ever buy ,, where can a guy get the best deal on one?,, bass pro i am not sure any deals to be had there...every time i go there i spend three times the money i intended to....... you know how that goes!!!!!
