There is something cool about sitting over the slabs in say 30 foot of water & getting them to lift and drill your offering.
Using a Vexilar to watch them rise is a blast.
Getting all coiled up to set & then you see the spring twitch & whammo, fish on.
Here's a young one that likes this thing we call ice fishing.

I have to agree. Its awesome watching fish swim up and crushing your offerings. Its also very frustrating when your sitting on fish and can't get them to hit.

The Vex is just an amazing tool. I will never jig without one.

:D that is until you forget it at home. That has happened 2x already this year for me. :D But, I still managed to put some gills and slab crappies on the ice. the Vex only helps fine tune your jigging skills, and when your without, you have to just put everything together and just trust the jigging bounce. hehe :D

Given my "rookie" status on the ice, the Vex has done wonders for me. I used a friend's FL-18 all winter, and its now on the top of my list to buy.

I use mine during both hard & soft water fishing. When trolling ,it's a great real time locator.
I have 2 now.1 for me & there always seems to be someone that needs one.
Since having the Vexilar at my side my fishing production has doubled.

The coolest thing is the "big red blob" right next to your jig just before a quality fish inhales it. My two best fish this winter came out of 18' to 20' and there was no mistaking their presence right before the bite.

    You got that right!
I love it when I get that fish & there is another red blob that as soon as I can get the fish through the hole ,I'm sending the jig back down as fast as I can to get him too.
You can kinda get an idea of the size to by the size of the red blob.
So when that blob is as big as the one you just caught & it was a 14".The blood pressure really gets going!

Its nice to know theres at least fish in the vicinity of your jigs for sure.My favorite tho is when you see a big suspended mark and reel up to it and it gets wacked.I have jigged without it but now that I have one I can't imagine going back without one.

Another favorite is when you have multiple big red blobs swimming 5' or more to slam your jigs.Ice fishing is addicting for sure.
