that's how we fish at T hill but from the shore and my problem is casting it far enough out to drag bobber and jig back over brush or PVC. Need to learn how to get the right 10-12 foot pole, reel, line and weighted fixed bobber 40-60 feet. Any suggestions?

Were you just fishing banks or were you in a cove, creek, slough?

I was fishing the back of a small cove, and the mouth of a small feeder creek coming into the cove in a stained water lowland Res. It was a nice sunny windy winter day, a little chilly.

If the water is stained get a bigger wieghted bobber, and maybe go down to a quality 4 lb test to get MAX distance, I have done well with a 4-5 inch wieghted cigar shaped bobber and a 10 long handle jigging pole to reach out and touch them, fishing as little as 18" deep, also a good mid sized spinning reel with lots of spool line capacity will help, A mid sized slip bobber butting right up to a 1/8th or 1/4 oz jig or a good sized split shot just above the jig with a slipbobber can be zinged a long ways. Good Luck
