My son and I fished the Pennsecola bridge area and the inner coastal waters around that area we caught a lot of the specs or sweet trout as many of the locals like to call them they are tasty to eat, nice clean white meat. My son hooked a ray about the same size as the one pictured and your correct they put up a pretty good fight. His favorite to catch were the sail cats nice fighting fish also. WE had a lot of trouble with the dolphins they wouldn't leave us alone kept wanting us to feed them even had one bump our boat a couple times. The highlight of our trip was at the end of the day our friend had a commercial crab license and it was the last day of season so we helped him empty the crab pots and they were full of blue crab. We took a 128 qt. cooler heaped full back to his dock and while we cleaned fish he boiled the blue crab and we ate them fresh out of the water literally seconds fresh. Have fun!

There is nothing like the low country. You can smell it, especially at low tide!

    Here is the old saying:

Salt water fishing will make you think you are a fisherman,
and fresh water fishing will make you a fisherman.

By the way, rays are trash fish. Kind of like catching a grindle.

I went to Crystal River for my check out dives many moons ago. Visibility was great. We went to a place called catfish corner, which was basically a hole in the bottom that was like a huge bottle. You drop down about 15 to 20 feet and there were hundreds of catfish all around, basically everywhere you moved catfish were just inches from you. It was something to see.
