Default Carter's Lake night stalk question

    Hey guys,

A friend of mine has a vacation home close to Carter's lake and we are planning on going night stalking this coming weekend (July 7th). I have only fished Carter's once and it wasn't for crappie. I know that it is a very deep lake. I was wondering if someone could help me out with a good general place to start. Maybe some lacations of some shallow (20-25 feet) flats or points. Detailed information would be nice too . We are going to get there early and ride aroung the lake with the depth finder to scout it out. I just remember the lake being very deep. I don't want to have to anchor in 100+ feet of water.

I will try to get a map and go over it before we go.

Thanks in advance for any info.

    Default Opinions needed

Ok guys I just need some good opinions here. For a night stalk, would you rather fish a point, finger off the lake, or back up in a creek. They are all about the same depth and since the lake is extremely deep, they will all have drop offs close by. I got my map to Carters today and would like to here what you guys think. I hate to move at night, so I am trying to set up in the best spot possible.

    Thanks

    Jfraley,

I really wish I could help but I have never fished Carter's. All I can do is suggest reading Rango's article, especially the part on locating where to fish.
    Birddog,

I pray that I may live to fish until my dying day. And when it comes to my last cast I then most humbly pray. When in the Lord's great landing net and peacefully asleep. That in His mercy I be judged, BIG ENOUGH TO KEEP.

The night stalk at Carters didn't go very well. We got to the lake early so we could check it out, talk to some locals that were bass fishing and they gave us some tips on where to go. We got set up and noticed that almost all of our minnows were dead. I don't know if they had been refrigerated or not, but it was a pisser. Needless to say, we didn't catch a crappie all night. We caught one stripe and one catfish. We setup twice and didn't attract many fish to the lights at all. We did have some 5-6" shad come to the lights and some big tad poles. We setup in timber, but no fish.

The light holders I made worked great and we got to spend time shooting the bull. It wasn't a lost cause, but the next time we go to carters, I'll take the catfish jugs.
