Default Oconee Dock Shooting Report 9/29/08

Hit Oconee today after going to 7 gas stations before I finally found some gas. Got on the water about 11:00 a.m. Put in at Brantleys and started shooting docks in deep water. Number of Crappie caught- BIG FAT ZERO. Caught a few brim and some war mouth on the rocks. Caught one small large mouth under one of the docks. It is still pretty hot. I was sweating like Micheal Vic at PetSmart. Well it was good to at least get out on the water. Perfect day, no wind and beautiful. The kind of day you thank GOD for being alive.

Sometimes it's just nice to hit the water, even if the fish don't cooperate.

Went shooting docks with my partner yesterday. Brought home 24 crappie, 1 bream & 1 bass. The best docks were shallow (4-6 ft). Never got a hit on the deep docks on the river. A friend of mine was there shooting docks also and he had the same results.

River Hawk you should have try some tree tops. They have been bitting good over tree tops, in about 15-20 ft. of water.

I just talked to another friend who shot docks yesterday on the Richland Creek side of the lake Oconee. No hits at all. He decided to troll and brought home 16 Crappie.

I heard some have had success trolling late in the day form 5 until dark.

Well that is how it is sometimes. I went deep when I should have gone shallow. Thanks for the advise. I will try and hit it again this weekend. Laserdoc, I do not know of any tree tops on Oconee, but thanks for the advise. I know of some amazing shallow docks on Oconee, but I honestly thought it was too early for them to be going shallow. Thanks all.
