It has been a great week. We caught 4 fish over 2lbs. 1 was 2 1/2lbs and plenty of 1lber's they were hitting jigs and minnows. We had 3 days of good fishing before we started catching smaller ones then on Wed. they stopped biting because of the cold front. I gotta throw this in on Sat. 3/31 I got up early and drove down to a friends farm and had 2 decoys set up at day light well about 8:00 am I see 2 hens feeding in a field about 200 yds out so I take out my slate call and yelp real soft and then I look to my left and guess what. I see the white head walking along the edge of the field coming to the decoys and he decides he don't like it and pounces on the jake decoy (boom)1 bird down then another jumps on my bird (boom) 2 birds down but wait wings flapping another bird behind # 2 gets hit also. So 2 shots and 3 birds not bad to start the week.
What areas on Hartwell did you fish? Did you shoot docks, troll, or jigpole? Stained water or clear? Sorry for all the questions but I haven't been on Hartwell this year, and I'd like to try when the weather warms.
Thanks!
William
