Need info on Clarke Hill

I have some friends that are going to the hill on thrusday. If anybody can give some info , it would be good to help them out. Their boys are out on spring break. They need some fishing info.

You were suppose to call and give me a Sinclair report. From your post, I see why I haven't heard from you. Me and LB1 did real good at Clark's Hill this past Friday. We kept 58 and probably threw back twice that many. We had 55.6 lbs. lbs. out of the ones that we kept. Our biggest was a 2.04 lb. Start about 3/4 of the way back in any of the major creeks and work your way toward the back. Most of our fish were 7 to 10 feet deep in water varying from 7 to 25 feet deep. We saw several dead males floating on the surface in different creeks, which is a good sign that the peak of the spawn is probably past. We did catch some big ole hens still full of eggs, so it's not totally over with. Call me on my cell if you need more details or let me know how they do after they get back.

Hey chappy good report, but im a little worried about the dead males. I have not seen this before on the hill. Do you think its natural?

DI......When I say several dead males. I mean like 1 or 2 here and there. Not like a mass of dead fish. I think it's natural. I see it on Oconee and Sinclair almost every year. Some of the males just exhaust themselves preparing the bed and then spending countless hours protecting it. I believe it's just nature's way of weeding out the weaker fish. It's usually a good sign that the peak of the spawn is about done. Of course, we still caught a good many fish that still had eggs, so it's not completely over. Hey, It's great to hear from you. Keep up the great work and we'll keep you posted on the hill until you get back!!

Thats good to hear, i always hate to hear about dead fish on the hill. The end of the spawn means prime white crappie time. Biggest fish of the year can be caught, but they are hard to find.
