    Default Attention Georgia crappie fisherman

I talked to the DNR Commissioner Mark Williams and addressd the question of making some Georgia lakes a ten inch limit . He sent my question up to fisheries and they called and asked question . In are discussion about why this would be a great law for some Georgia lake he stated that they will have to come out with some type of pole to see what crappie anglers may want in Georgia . I would like everyone to keep there eye open for a poll and take part in it . Not sure on the polls time frame or where it might be posted . Let's make Georgia crappie fishing better with bigger fish . Thanks and please show your support .

They will need to do studies to make sure what lakes it would make a difference on and they should present them to the crappie anglers to vote. If it will help the lake and make the fishing better it would be worth it. On a lake that it would do nothing but hinder fishing it would be a mistake. All lakes are not created equal. Just my stupid opinion.

I sure wish they would. Tell them the best poll to do would be for the fisheries folks to join this site and become active on the GA forum. If they only poll anglers that fish one or two times a year during the spawn, their data will be inaccurate. I got a list of Slab Masters members that can give them more data from their fishing logs on all the GA lakes then their biologist probably have. GA needs to get its head out of the sand and old school beliefs of what a crappie's life cycle really is and isn't. Need some college student to do a GPS tracking of tagged crappie on lakes like other states have done. Hell we even offered to donate some fish from our tournaments to the DNR biologist so they could do studies on the age/health of the fish, but they declined. It would have saved the state some $$ and still would have had some real time information. Keep us informed of the poll and any other info you can find. Thanks!

we did have a DNR biologist com to crappie.com git to gather and collected some information and fish parts he even helped clean some of the fish . a verry nice man . i think lake blackshear would be a good lake for a 10 in. limit . would not her me as i have a hard time catching over 10 but i only keep over 10 in fish anyway .

If I were in charge, every lake in Georgia would have a 10" limit.

It would be great to have a lake where the focus would be grow large Crappie and attract fishermen. One of the reasons people travel to Lake Talquin in Fl (and other lakes with size limits) is the quality of fish that can be caught in the lakes. Once a lake gets the reputation of having large crappie......."The fishermen will come"

We used to fish Jordan Lake in NC and it had a 10" limit. Not uncommon to weigh in 17-18lbs in a tourney. (10fish). It was a much better fishery than the next lake 30 miles away. I'm in for a vote for it.
