I know Talquin has some good fish but the big ones are waiting till Feb to start biting. Caught lots of "Good" fish but the 2 and 1/2 pounders have been hiding pretty good. There is an excellent shad population and you would be amazed to see the size of the shad inside the Crappie.......unreal. Hope to get down there couple days next week but if not the following week for sure. Don't plan on keeping many fish.....just enjoy the time on the lake. As my grandson told me one time"Pa, don't get no better than this".

Sounds like I need to be fishing Talquin with you guys if you can pull that kind of weight....the fishing is pretty good down there this year but the top end fish aren't there like they were 4 or 5 years ago...I can vouch for prolly 20 or 25 days of fishing from myself and some other really good fisherman the past month and only know of 3 fish that weighed 2 lbs being caught....wish they would raise the limit to 11" instead of 10 and it would save a whole "age class" of fish that are 10.5" right now and allow them to reproduce for another year and maybe get the lake back closer to what it used to be.....afraid it will never be what it was with the fishing pressure it sees now days though.

X2 AUTiger.. Nothing like Talquin 10+ years ago. That lake has been hammered the last 7-8 yrs.

AUTIGER: Would be good to see you at the tournament. Even if just to shoot the bull again.

TNT: A blindfold might help me! I bet he could show a blind man how to catch a Talquin slab.

I agree with Autiger on the 11 inch size fish. Many of the regulars that fish Talquin don't keep a fish unless it's 11+ inches. That size makes a good fillet for supper....I'm getting hungry and may cook some tonight. I caught 1 fish over 2 lbs at Talquin in Nov-Dec.

I don't like to wear HOOKER'S arm out fileting fish so 12 to 15 fish a day is plenty for me. I try to keep better than 12 in. fish and can't remember the last limit I limited out on that size fish. Intil spawn I think I'll be putting back all the big females I catch if I can tell the diffence. The lake is very popular and I believe their's some boys taken out double limit's on good day's. Populations can be over fished and I think it's a shame to over fish a lake just to make you buy a bigger freezer back home.....just my thought's on fihing my home lake.

I imagine there is some back door fish selling going on with the locals.
