Fishing is not quite as bad as hunting on TRYING TO DO THE MATH, but it is almost as bad. After paying your deer lease, gas spent going and coming, and other costs, the meat is about $17 per pound. I don't think fishing is too bad, but the meat can also be quite costly. It is much easier to use this math on your wife the first time, because at the end of the season you hope she has forgotten the math you used to buy what you needed, I mean wanted.

On some trips, I've paid much less per pound for lobster or crab than I have for the fish I caught. OTOH - that tug on the line and frantic bend in the rod from a really good slab, to see a big ol bucket mouth come up shaking its head or have a huge cat burn drag is a high like no other. I'm blessed in that my wife likes to fish as much if not more than I do. 3AM, raining like a banshee - there she is telling me to wait just another 30 minutes cause she's got something working her bait.
