This time of year is just strange. Decided to go out and fish my lights at 5am. Not a single shad on top of the water. Now keep in mind the surface of my cove was covered with schools of shad a dusk, but there were none under the lights at 9pm either. Caught two nice slabs, but I had to cast a couple dozen times to catch those. Why would the shad be so plentiful at dusk, but not be attracted to my lights all night. I notice several fishermen came up to the lights to fish, but none stayed that long. Nature and fishing are are amazing things, just when you think you have both figured out, they both show you what a fool you are.
