Both of you get your service books out and go to the trouble shooting section and it will lead you right thru to the problem. OR call Craftsman number listed on the mower and they will give you the help needed. The one where the mower shuts off while the blades are engauged and you try to back up, after you start the mower turn the ignition switch back one click and that should taske care of your problem. I forget to do that all the time myself but I've got fast enough to keep from killing the engine completely.
