    Default Felt pads for waders

I'm getting a new pair of neoprene waders at bass pro next month and they have the rugger soles. problem is the river i fish has *alot* of slick rocks and I think the felt soles would be abit better. Is there some slip on type I can put on over the rubber? I even thought about getting some scotchbrites or something and some short screws to attach them. Any thoughts?

Why not get stocking foot waders and then you can use felt soled boots?

My first waders were neoprene. I still have them, but haven't worn them in years. The reason is that no matter how cold it is the neoprene waders make me sweat, which in turn makes me cold. I now use breathable waders with long underwear and fleece pants and stay much warmer.

you might check your states laws before buying felt soled boots. some states are banning the felt soles because they transport didy mo. here in arkansas they have not banned them at this time but missouri has now banned the use of felt soles.

several of my friends got into fly fishing and every last one of them went and bought neoprene waders against my advice.............every last one of them withing a few trips replaced them with stocking foot breathable waders. two of those guys bought $79 cheapos and both of those guys have purchased their third set.

you try to save money by purchasing neoprene to duck and fly fish, then you try to save money by purchasing the least expensive and in the end you have spent more money.

imo i dont think you have to spend a fortune but you do have to buy decent. i bought a set of orvis basic stocking foot breathable waders 5 years ago for $129 and have used the crap out of them. no leaks, no problems. lifetime warranty and from my understanding, orvis backs it up.
