Thread: Items for slabfest get together

Guys- Would you prefer a 7 fish per person or per boat...marking an angler's individual fish caught might prove tricky-one way is to use small safety pins clipped through a fin(must be removed before weigh-in Danny and no welding torch-strikers either)re.-Ironworkers lingo.

Just my 2 cents, 7 per boat and 1 per angler for biggest fish. Speaking of this, I will buy the picture frames and try to do some kind of certificate for them, if it is aggreable, to pass from team/person to team/person each time for something to present and pass along. Could even note on the back who won what fest and list them. Any ideas???

Ha , I love it !
There, to my knowledge, are no such things as "Welding torch strikers".
I know what you mean though= (Oxy/Acetylene torch strikers) (AKA-cutting torch).
I love watching TV and see someone cutting with an oxy/acetylene torch and wearing a welding hood.
I guess one could put a light gauge lense in a welding hood and use it as a cutting shield, but, never seen anyone doing that.
Now, there are welding hoods that have flip-up lenses that one can look through a clear lens to inspect their weld, and lots of fellows use that technic to grind also, but, generally, for cutting, one uses goggles or a dark lens grinding type shield.
Then again, thinking about it, there is the almost lost art of brazing where you do use a torch for welding (brazing).
Why am I busting you on this (welding torch striker) ?

OK- There you gone and dunnit now, Danny. Gettin' a little brazen now with all this hi-tech tecnology on torchin' stuff and cuttin' up stuff and oxy/cety stuff. I used to braze Monte Carlos and Gran Prixs for GM back in the late 70's on the assembly line up in Balto., MD. Now for a quarter, I'll show you how!Notice the protective eyegear!! Now, I'll make a motion that only YOUR fish will be tagged with a staight pin, that's right, now how ya like me now??
Is this a showdown at the "OK" Corral or.....the "Circle K" Corral??

Me being a welder I get to burn rod and wire all day!! I do enjoy cuttin steel as well especially inch and a half all day! I just use a pair of tinted safety glasses when I cut though...no need for a hood....now i can see a face shield! So if anyone needs any weldin done let me know and ill help you out!

I knew as soon as I made that post that there'd be an exception to the rule and I'd be in error by making an "absolute" statement, Ha !, that's why I went back and put in that statement about brazing. And indeed, you are a brazer.
Don't run into too many. But then again, perhaps up north in the big plants, there is probably a continuing/florishing trade in brazing, etc. I was a TIG welder for bout 25 years, since joining the union have only TIG'd a couple times, mostly been doing stick.
Am right now going down to the hall practicing on welding with some new kind of wire in flux-core (innershield-MIG GUN) called "seismic" (AKA-earthquake wire) (is unforgiving and a real B*tch to do verticles) for building the new MLP (Mobile Launch Platform) for the new moon rocket. They just got the first girder in out there the other day, and have already called the hall for two welders, eventually will have around 20, I got to get in on that, supposed to last approx a year and a half, etc..
Is nice to meet a fellow metal melter.

As to marking all the fish, ya can't mistake any of mine, they all got black specks on em !
Ya know, I was thinking about that, how to count fish for the contest, by the boat or person. Like in our case (Me/Chuck/Kevin), we found a little hole in the hycienths and let Kevin pull em out mostly, so, if a team finds a hole, and it's only big enough for one rod, ya know ???
I'd say we count em by "Boat" cept for the "Big" fish. But, that's cause of our case, etc....
Is really kinda hard tryin to take a fish off the hook, mark em (safety pin would work I guess), throw em in the live well, etc. That would take away from "quickly" getting back out there to get another one, etc...
But, I'd defer to the majority rule..........
Just my opinion.....

I also mig'd and tig'd and about the livewell/pinning holdup, how 'bout keeping yours separate, say in a cooler.....one of those igloo SIX PACK thingys...or would that be too big?!!:D:o:rolleyes:Had to bring my boy team out for that question!!
