This is a quote from boatclub08 from another thread.
If you are interested in getting together at boatclub08 business and fishing Lake Monroe, LETS HEAR IT.
I don't know when would be the best dates, but name what you think and we can try to agree on a date.
We could have a picnic with cooked crappie caught that day along with all of the fixings that each can bring something to pass.
You can express your desire for day to fish, what you can contribute for the table fare ( salads, breads, drinks (tea, soft drinks, etc) paper plates, plastic eating utensils, paper cups, salt & pepper shakers. This is not a complete list.

Although I live in GA, I may be interested in coming down for it...I'll be watching this thread.
Monroe is my favorite
Count me in.

I am from the Georgia forum. Just wanted to let ya'll know that the Slabfest idea that Falcon Smitty came up with is one wonderful idea. These events are built around the idea of family fun and fellowship. There is no money involved except when buying the trophies. We have kids, wives and the whole family at our events most of the time and tons of fun is had by everyone. I can see by the post that the people of Florida is alsao ready for something like this. If ya'll need any advice on this type of event please let me know. GOD bless you all.
By the way, I have met Mr. Chuck Auten and I can tell you that this is a great fellow. He has attended our Slabfest and seems to be a fine outstanding man. Veyr good man to have involved in these Slabfest.
Voted. Is there anything I can do to help? Can't wait to see the group again. Learned a lot. Wish I had found you guys ten years ago. I wasted a lot of time saltwater fishing.

I have set the poll to run until Dec 31 to see what day the majority wanted to meet and if they wanted to fish and eat.
The way the votes are coming in it looks like EVERYBODY wants to EATWhy should this surprise anyone????
As of today Sunday Dec 20, 2008, The majority wants to meet and fish on Saturday Jan 17, 2009. If the poll stays that way we will meet at Monroe Harbor Marina tackle store, In downtown Sanford off near I-4. 531 N. Palmetto Ave. Sanford, FL. 32771.
We will need to get a list of things that the members can bring for the picnic, such as eating utensils, disposable plates, salt, pepper, disposable drink holders, disposable table covers, salads, drinks (tea, soft drinks) oil to cook fish in, [I understand that one of those who voted already indicates he has a fish frier ] corn meal dredge for the fish. I am sure there are other things that one enjoys with fish that can, will be added to items being brought.
ANYWAY it should be a GOOD time for all.
THERE IS NO entry fee as this is just for good fellowship all around AND BRAGGING RIGHTS to the winner of the biggest and heaviest catches:D:D
