    Default Saturday meet at Monroe.

I can not believe I got in here first to post. Have not uploaded photos yet but will tomorrow.
To describe today would be "fantastic". Little cold in the morning, but turned out to be a wonderful day. Met some really interesting people..... yup Phantom, your one of them, but all were great. Lots of fish caught and a nice 2 pounder was landed and brought to the weigh in. Also got a pic of the tape measure.......and not the Polish tape either.....you know what I am talking about. Anyway, a great time had by all, got to shake a lot of hands of good people, good food, Boat Club was a great host and the list goes on and on. Hats off to everyone who had a hand in setting this up and we are all wondering when the next one will be.
Will get for now and let the others chime in, cuz I know a lot of people will want to make a few comments as well. I took a couple of things away with me when I left...1. Now have a lot more friends and 2. There is a lot I need to learn to get up there with these guys putting fish in the live well......'specially from Kevin.

Hey Dusty, you beat me to first post on today's well put together outing. I can say a lot about the wonderful and plentiful food fest, but really would like to express my deepest sympathies to everybody that was unable to attend. The startup weather was down to 35 degrees at the rampsite with brisk Northerly breezes facing us out on the lake. Some really nice catches were made and compliments to heavy stringer went to Phantom, Chucker and Kevin. Flycaster John got some nice ones with the 2 lb. kicker that really accented his fishbox. Really nice guys and gals attended and it was nice to finally put a face to a username. If you didn't come away from this first Florida event with a special feeling of comraderie, I would be very surprised. Again special thanks to the filet guys, cooks and organizers including Chuck at the Harbour Marina for taking us under his wing, so to speak. He really is a great guy and should be patronized by all who come to fish the area surrounding Monroe.

    Again thanks,
    Doug
Thanks for checkin' on me! CURIOSITY takes me there, SUCCESS ushers me back!

Sounds like you all had a blast, wish I could have made it. I wanted to fish so bad today but instead I was on the drawing table doing a school project and day dreaming about fishing. Going to fish a local lake tomorrow till the wind picks up and hope and pray for better weather next weekend so I can go to Talquin.
Its Foolish and wrong to morn the men who died, instead we should thank God that such men lived.

What else can I say about the SLABFEST. A GREAT bunch of Ladies and Gentlemen, you to Phantom309.
Phantom309 your boat really loaded up on those specks.
Hats off the CHUCK at BOATCLUB08 for even suggesting a get together at Lake Monroe and getting the motel set up for those who wanted to get there early.
I guess that we had 14 or 15 persons fishing and the fillet group cleaned 75 fish.

This is the Kev-Man (Kevin), using my grandpa's site. I would like to thank everyone that was at the slab fest today. For a 12 year old boy to be accepted by such nice people is very touching. I will have the memory of this day for a long time. I had a great time fishing with Phantom309, he is such a nice person. He takes up a lot of time with me to make fishing fun. He put me in all the right spot, so I could catch fish. He jokes a lot, but he is just a good guy!!!!
I am sorry I was a little sick today, I had a cold coming on. After I got home, I was running 101.3 temp, but would not have missed this day for anything. Thank everyone again, looking forward to our next meeting.

I talked with Chuck about 9:30 this morning and he said between the wind and cold temps, he decided not to put his boat in...Hope he is feeling OK.
