    Default Farm Pond

I have fished the Pond 4 of the last 8 days. It has not been that great, the wind is wrecking havoc. Water is dirty, visibility is 6-8 inches. Went by myself last Friday, caught about 30 and kept 14. 7 were slabs and 7 were just fish (I don't keep anything under 10 inches and 11 inches if they are biting pretty good). Me and my partner Phil went on Sat, I didn't get a count as Phil kept them all, but I'm sure we kept 20 out of about 50 caught. Ran into Rusty (Blue Ghanoe on this board) and he found some fish on a ditch and was trolling back and forth on 400-500 feet of the ditch. He kept 23 and had some hogs. Me and Phil went back on Sunday with plans of fishing the ditch were Rusty found them. Howling wind made that impossible. Had to fish close to the west bank to stay out of the wind. Caught maybe 20 and kept 10. We lost 4 monster Crappie right at the boat. We seen all four of them and right before they were in net range, they came off. I expect to lose 1 or 2, but dang, not 4. Me and Phil went again yesterday and it was bad. Lake was white capping by noon, kept 7. Got into those pain in the butt Catfish yesterday, caught 8-9 of them. Wind is supposed to be better tomorrow, going to try them again. The crappie should be schooled up by now, but if they are, I can't find them. I talk to Jim Porter (the premier Bass and Crappie Guide down there) quite often. I think he has only found schooling fish one time in the last month. The day him and his client found the school, he said they kept 46 and 44 of them were big. If this wind ever lays down and the water clears up some, it will get better.

I had about an hour yesterday before the wind took over. I trolled the usual spots and never got a bite. Headed for the spillway (saw you and Phil there) but struck out there too. Left the Pond at 12 and headed for Lake Washington. Started fishing at about 1 and had a limit at 3. Culled till 5 and left with 25 very nice slabs. I was totally shocked because I figured if they weren’t biting in one lake they wouldn’t bite in another. I slashed the deep water (5-7 ft) and did find a few schooled up. They were busting the top all over but I didn’t start catching them good until I took off my sinker. Don’t know what it was but they wouldn't bite gigs or minnows held down with sinkers.

Grandkids here today but hope to be back tomorrow.

River, too windy in lake. Usual spots around the bends near deep water.

Looks like the evidence is overwhelming. Good pictures. Also good to see green grass and blue skies. Not the way it is here in Ky.

You're right Skipper; the weather has been perfect except for a little wind. My kids are here from VA and I don't know if I can make them leave or not. Uncle Sam sent me here 2 years ago and I had no idea it was this good.
