Now look. I come down here for the warmth in the winter......where the heck is it??? Since I have been down this year (since the last of october) I have had to scrape the ice off the windshield, wear sweats, and shiver just getting the paper. Ready for some t-shirt fishing for sure.

Close into the area the best crappie fishing is in the River (choctawhatchee)You fish the lakes this time of the year as well as Black Creek which can be really good for Crappie. Need a boat ... There are a couple of ponds on Eglin that have crappie where you would not have to have a boat ... Check @ Jackson Tower in Niceville for information. Most all of the fishing in this area you will need a boat .. unless you want to surf fish or bayfish off of the bridges.

    Good Luck

that took the water temps south...now a few days of moderate weather with a very slight warm up and things should pick up in the next few weeks

Thanks for the info, love to fish for crappie. Is there anywhere close to good slabs where I could rent a boat. Just in case the fishing depression set in.

Ronald, when you get there check out the local marinas. They will have boats to rent and can recommend guides. A guide on a unfamiliar lake is worth his weight in gold. One day with a guide and then you will know how to fish that lake. Good luck.
