Been out to jessup twice within the last 2 weeks. I have been getting out there at about 3:30pm and fishing till dark. The first trip me and a buddy ended up with 11. 9 of them were keepers. This time out we only unded up with 2 keepers but caught 7 and a catfish and a gar. We are putting in right off of lake mary blvd. Im not sure what the road is called. The fish seemed to be slow tonight were as last week the hit was alot better we are only fishing for about 2 and a half hours but within the last hour is when they really turn on it seems. We are fishing right up on the reeds and it seems the closer you get to them the bigger the fish. Still waiting for it to get cold and the bite to get better... But they are still there..
Good looking fish. I fished Jesup regularly the last couple years but last year I didn't have a lot of luck and I think it was because the water quality. It looked as if it had a lot of algea in it. How does it look now? Looks as if your fishing on the south side near the 417 overpass. Around that time of year I always had better luck fishing the reeds on the south side but on the other side of Black Hammock to the east on the way to the St Johns. There are like fingers that stick out that are created by a couple creeks dumping in. Try fishing the third or forth finger out closer to the lake in about 2-3 feet of water. Take a look at Google Earth and you will see what I mean.
Cool, thanks for the advice. I have fished both sides by black hammock a couple years ago and i caught fish but nothing with a whole lot of size. I haven't seen much algea the storms this year might have pushed alot of it out. I will definitely check that out over there i live in winter springs so i am pretty much in between sanford and the hammock.
