I am using 20lb flourocarbon leaders. Have not had any chew through except for bluefish. And yea, nuttin happening with wire trace. Gotta tell ya, picked up 2 of the 7' medium lite Penn Battle II combos, spooled em up with 15lb Superslick8 and man them are some saweet tools. Bout doubled my casting distance over the Browning Aggressor LTD medium rods I been using. Nice being able to pitch a freelined live shrimp about 70'.
