What is depth of water your working Marv ? If less than 15 you can use chain
effectively attached to 50' rope. Chain will slide quite well over rocks/submerged
trees.

The last 2-3 weeks, been finding the fish in 18-20'+ water depth, probably no more than 150-200 yards then depths change drastically. I bought some chain last year, been a little hesitant to try it, figured I would end up loosing it.
