    Default Panama City area

Going to be in Panama City from Jan till end of March. Can anyone give me a few tips on lakes within a hour or two drive that I can try my luck in? Any area crappie guides or bait shops anyone can recommend ? Also any advice on what type of fishing such as spider rig, long lining or single pole would be appreciated........Thanks in advance......Kentucky Bob

Welcome to florida. I have been fishing Lake Talquin for the past years and have had a great time catching a lot of 12" crappie. I have a camper at Lake Talquin Lodge. Jarred is a good guide to show you the lake. We mainly long line. Some will push. The months of February thru May are great. This past January was also very good, but it was because we had a warm month.

    LTL phone number is 850-627-3822.

    Have a great new year.

Lake Talquin is about 1 1/2 hours from Panama City and offers some great fishing...But don't believe a word that Chuck tells you. Here is my advice: I have been fishing Lake Talquin for the past years and have had a great time catching a lot of 12" crappie. I have a camper at Lake Talquin Lodge. Jarred is a good guide to show you the lake. We mainly long line. Some will push. The months of February thru May are great. I live about an hour north of Panama city. Pate Lake is about 40 minutes north of you between Vernon and Caryville. Also like mentioned above Lake Talquin isn't too far well worth the trip. You also have Deer Point Lake in Panama but I never see any reports from there but surely it has crappie. Another option is the south end of the Choctawhatchee River and Black Creek.

kentuckybob......you will get a lot of help here to help enjoy your stay. If you are bringing a boat you are in business. Not many places around here to rent a boat and motor in the better fresh water fisheries. There may be over on Lake Talquin that was mentioned, but I'm not sure.
