    Lake Monroe Park

They usually open early for us so we start getting there around 6AM....don't have a weigh-in time yet. Probably will post that in a few days when we see what the weather is etc. Looks like great weather so far.

The choctawhatchee river is my home fishing grounds. I live a few miles from it on the upper stretch close to alabama. The stretch below the dam has some big fish, but from what i've heard gar are quite the nuisance down there. I fish all the flathead tournaments on apalachicola and can I assure you that you wouldn't regret a trip over there.

thanks for the info. would love to hear about ramps/landings on apalachicola and choctawhatchee rivers. do you fish talqluin for cats down around coe's landing, the iron curtain? i have never fished there. gar. hate them. what a nuisance they are.

Since you would be coming from Talquin, I would suggest the estiffanulga ramp just south of Bristol. Lots of river bends and deep holes along that section of the river. Ramps on the choctawhatchee really just depend on water level. These past few summers the river has gotten so low that I couldn't even launch my Skiff. The only catfishing I have done on Talquin was right above the dam in the winter. Caught a few nice channels, but we weren't prepared for catfishing. The crappie fishing was bad and wind was too strong so we opened up a can of vienna sausages and put them on a bass hook to save the day. But I have been wanting to drown a bream up by the iron curtain for a flathead. I know they are in the lake for sure!
