Yelim & Fish813 set up this day to find and pursue new fishin holes
in Polk County.................
Wind was up, water in high 60's depth ranged from 6 ft to 12 on
various passes. Entire day spent long-linin, infact ole trolling mtr
logged 12.75 miles...........
caught 17 fish, kept 11, and weighed top
7 for mock tournament: 9 lbs, 15.5 oz.
Biggest came in at 17 1/4 inches,
2 lbs, 8.5 oz & little sister 16 1/2 inches
2 lbs. 2.5 oz
I got one word for those fish....damn!
"If you do not change direction, you may end up where you are heading."
When i hooked that big one, it seemed like he was 1/2 mi from boat, closer he got the
more nervous i got...........that micro was almost bent in two and line was singing
big time, and i still had to net him - in a Gheenoe its pretty tight quarters all around.
Same thing when Ron hooked his big one......he was pretty much on his own, as I
couldn't get to him, run boat and keep lines separated..........
What a wonderful day.
It's real nice to see big fish like that in Florida.![]()

Wow, that's a beautiful vision brought to life! A 16" is great, but a 17" is off-the-chain, congrads guys! Don't expect ya'll to reveal the honeyhole, but would I be warm if I said between lake alfred & winter haven, looks like the lay-of the-land. Just awesome Pics!
crappie down !
Nice! Surprised ya took a Gheenoe with all the wind lately.
Oh my.................had to see them again.........................oh my.....................how the heck im I going to be able to sleep now?

Took the Gheenoe as didn't know what kind of ramp if any, we were going to find...
Easier to work with it than with the Procraft 180D.
Wind was a real bummer as far as workin the water correctly....first out in am
got 1 lb 7 in the cat-tails, boy or boy blood was really pumping. 3 hrs later still
only had the one fish. Next went after the stump fields.........several jigs later,
couple break offs and ole "G" hung up on downed trees just under water, we gave that idea up. Wind still in hammer mode, now we started long lining starting at
6 ft levels -7 ft level - 8-9 ft level, finally into the 11 - 12 level, slowed speed
way down from 1.5 - 1.7 down to 1.1.... and their they were.......and when they
hit, holly cow, like a sledge - and bigger ones wouldn't come up and lay over.
Most of time thought either it was a bass or big blue-gill. What a rush when you
down into that big mouth comming at you..............and hoping he won't spit or
pull hook out.........![]()
