My I've always tight lined but I also pull a couple at the rear of the boat sometimes. Pushing allows me to turn on a dime if I get into something and want to go back through for another shot. It also allows you to fish right over structure or bait pods without guessing and it's easier to keep lines clean of trash and regulate your depth. Pole goes down...pull fish in....no reeling. Your enemy are GAR or CATFISH or STRIPPER but I think that messes everybody up. I know there are some who disagree but I'm too old to care!!

I have tried pushing...But I know I am not as good as Speckanator...But I still prefer pulling...I can't turn around as quick while pulling, but I mark that spot on my GPS and pull right back over it...Maybe in another 40-50 years I'll get as old as Speckanator and I won't care either...Just my

I have what may seem like a dumb question to some of you but here goes. If you're tight lining/pushing what do you do when the wind kicks up and the boat starts bouncing? Seems like it would be hard to detect a bite that's why I pull/troll (when the rods bend there's a fish on). So what's the trick?

When the wind picks up your "jigging" Good question but I've never had a problem. A little wind doesn't really cause a problem or unless your travelling cross wind and the boat is rocking bad. The pole will bend plenty with a fish on. Now on the other hand a wake will make you want to throw something!

I can understand Gar or Catfish being an enemy but not STRIPPERS! Why would you be mad at talented working girls?

Ask Crappielover if the wind is a problem. Last year on Monroe you might as well stay home if the wind bothered you! The fish never seem to mind. So you stay and fish or
go up in the river with Andy! LOL!!

The strippers take your attention away from pole watching and you'll miss a big one now and then!

Ha! I got a kick out of the turn this thread took. I guess I've only really tried to pull, but have noticed that I get out-fished by the pushers. I'm thinking of trying Monroe in the morning...anyone else going out tomorrow morning? Also, would like a little guidance regarding the part of the lake I might want to try tomorrow.
I have another option, but Monroe is a little closer for me.

    Thanks guys.
