I have always carried a pocket knife. My wife hates it when i sharpen it, i shave the hair off my arm to see if its sharp enough. When i get a good clean shave its done.

I prefer shrade, or case knifes. When i was in the marine corp i had a reputation for being the guy who could sharpen any knife and would make a couple bucks sharpening knifes for other guys. The worst to sharpen was buck knives, they dulled easy and didn't hold an edge worth a crap. Yes, i could even get a nice sharp edge on a k-bar. :d

my wife and kids buy me a new blade every year. I have several still in the original packaging somewhere around the house.
the buck 110 folding knife was the best of the buck's , the rest was just as you describe . The buck sheath knives were hard to sharpened .

I carry a box knife with a flip open lock blade that is replaceable. Growing up on the farm everybody carried a pocketknife, generally a Case or something like that and a pliers. Those were tools of the trade in those days. Cut more twine strings off hay and straw bales than I care to think about. Now I feel naked without a blade, and I still get to use one regularly on pallet wrapping and case tape. I also carry a nail clipper for trimming the tag end of fishing line knots, a small tape and a hook stone all the time. You never know just when you can break away for a little fishing or what size fish will bite next either.

I have been carrying a 1970 yellow handle case trapper since my uncle gave it to me in 1977. Chrome vanadium blades look almost brand new and it stays razor sharp. Never leave home without it.

I can't remember how old I was when I started carrying a pocket knife, but ever since I started, I always have one in my pocket unless I go to the courthouse or catch a flight from an airport. For many years I always had an Old Timer in my pocket. They wore down every couple of years and had to be replaced. Now I carry a Gerber Paratrooper which is actually a clip on knife but I keep it in my pocket. It just doesn't feel right when I don't have a knife in my pocket.

I only fish on days of the week that end with
a "Y" ...and then, only if it's raining or not.

Kinda funny, isn't it ? What we have to carry along with ourselves to feel "normal". I always carry a 2-4 inch knife (carrying a Gerber now) AND my Chap-stick.

I carry a Swiss Army knife. A cheap one, cost around $12.00 and well worth it. Can pick them up on ebay for around $6.00 and thay have a life-time warranty. Love it more than any other knife iv'e ever owned. It has a phillip head screw driver, flat head screw driver, tooth pick, tweezers, wire stripper, & 2 blades. It sharpens easy and cuts good. Oops cut my finger, told you it cuts good.

I have carried a pocket knife all of my life. For the last 25 or so years I've been carrying Carl Schlieper German Eye brands.
