Last spring me and my son were turkey hunting. We walked up on about a 5 ft. long chicken snake. trying to teach my boy a lesson I let him almost step on it before I told him. He almost had a runaway. He didn't think it was near as funny as I did, but he did learn a very important lesson

Fishing in DC under the I-295 bridge, I had a 6'6" black (rat) snake crawl across my lap! He didn't bother me and I didn't bother him. I'm just glad it was a black snake. Usually, I'm chasing away the copperheads that congregrate in that area. Close call!

    Default here we go

early one morning ,opening day deer season I crawled up and go into my box deer stand. This stand was next to a huge oak tree, As i was seated there waiting for daylight i heard something in the floor moving. I was smokeing at the time so I got my lighter and got a flame and low and belold I seen a snake body what i could see that had made two rounds in that deer stand. Down here in texas we have what they call velvet tail rattlers , I new I had one in the stand with me. I did not move until good day light, then I could see it was a king snake. Knowing this ,it was no harm to me, so me and the snake hunted that morning. No I did kill the snake
I am a disabled vet here in Texas 50 south of Dallas . I fish richland chamber , ceder creek , and navarro mills. come see us.

    Default seining and running

MY brother is terrified of snakes. We were seining for minnows one day in Bull Creek in Tarentum, Pa, when a water snake came towards us and right between my legs. I swore I saw a miracle that day when he was not walking... but running on water :D

Cottonmouths can be agressive. I've had them swim toward the boat and nothing would deter them. I usually move on worrying they can slither up over the side the boat. I assume they can. Anybody know?
This reminds me of 2 stories...
    1. My brother who is not scared of snakes decided to shoot one out of a tree we where fishing under in a canoe. Well he missed the snake but broke the limb and the snake fell in the boat with us! Needless to say I left him and the snake in the boat and swam to shore! (I don't like snakes!)
    2. I had a buddy who had a cottonmouth climb up the transom with him and his girlfriend and her son. He put the girlfriend and her son in the front of the boat while he tried to get the snake out. The snake wrapped around his motor lock and he had heck getting it off! So to answer your question YES they can climb in the boat with you!

when i was bout 15 me and my cousin were fishing in my dads canoe.. a huge snake bout 12 foot or solong was slithering cross the water, my cousin who i beleive to havemental issues after this trip decided it would be cool to throw a frog at the snake and snagged it right behind the head and started to reel it in. needless to say the snake got bout 4 foot from the boat before i beat the living piss out of it with an oar then was bout to proceed to do the same to my cousin...after urinating my pants with this close call, i look over to see my cousin laughing at this ... moral of story::::dont try and snag a snake as large as your canoe

    Default A Kodak moment.........

My brother-in-law and his wife both work at the new Dogwoods golf course at Grenada Lake. Last Saturday, one of the grounds crew walked to a switch box at the edge of one of the hole fairways, and discovered two very large timer rattlers doing the wild-thang (copulating). One had 7 rattlers, and the other 15. A gun was quickly gotten, and ended the snakes' fun Sister-in-law took close-up detailed pictures of them still "engaged" (after they were shot). They were entwined like a pretzel. Of course, you know how small pictures on a cell phone are, but I consider this a very rare occassion. Just lookin at the pics, these suckers were huge. There have been many rattlers killed out there just this year, by the way.

So, if anybody knows how to load pictures from a cell phone to a PC, please let me know, and I'll try to post. These were the only pictures taken.

    Thanks

    F N W,
Is there a particular cable that goes from the phone to the computer USB port? She said she doen't think she has a cable for it. If not, I'll try to find which one it is, and buy it.

    Thanks

    Default Thread

This is a long thread stretching back a year and I've got to say I really enjoyed reading all 7 pages of it. Seems everyone has a snake story in their life. I haven't had bad ones, but there was one time I had my pirogue out on Toledo Bend in a boat slip. We had been fishing in it all day and went out that night to check the trot lines. On a whim I turned on the flashlight and looked down in it...there was a good sized moccasin that started zig zaggin back and forth where I proceeded to chase him with the paddle. He finally went up and over the side. My buddy and me decided we didn't need fish that bad after that. Seeing him come out that fast has sure kept me on my toes every time I'm in it, and that was at least 20 yrs ago.
