    I am having problems with my trolling motor mounted finder now that I am using a GPS/sonar combo on the back of the boat.

    If I have the fish finder on the trolling motor turned on before I turn on the gps/sounder I have no problems. If the gps is on and then i dump the trolling motor in and turn on the fish finder it reads like 1000 feet. I have been having to shut off the gps and then turn on the trolling motor finder, let it pick up the bottom and then trun on the gps and let it acquire satellites, a huge pain in the butt.

    The hot and ground wires for both units run to a terminal block under the front deck and a positive and negative wire run back to the battery along the right side of the boat.

    The transducer cable for the gps/sounder runs down the left. It is the only wiring that runs down that side. The transducer cable for the one on the trolling motor runs straight to the trolling motor and the excess is in a wire tie under the front deck.

    I ran the cables and wires in this manner so that there wouldn't be interference. Are they still just too close together? Does the interference result from the power wires or from the transducer cables?

    It's probably just crosstalk between the units in the water. They seldom interfere with each other via the cables unless the power wire is shared and is undersized. No real way to avoid it if the units are near the same frequency unless they are newer Lowrance units (don't know if H'bird has anything similar) with the ethernet ports.

    Make sure that both transducers point straight down, and try playing with the sensitivity.

    the gps is a garmin and the fish finder is an eagle if that makes a difference?

    i am planning on fishing two different lakes this weekend, and will try and dicker with the transducers and sensitivity settings. Also what is "gain"? i have a "gain" setting on the garmin and am not sure what that is. Is it sensitivity?
