    Default Help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

about 3weeks ago I posted on here that I was having trouble with my Motor Guide model 30 Pro Series trolling motor. I mentioned that the motor would engage but could not steer the boat as the foot-pedal had no control. The prop would turn but just wouldn't accept guidance from pedal. I had about 7replies that immediately said it was a broken steering cable and that this was a problem with Motor Guide. Well, as it turns out it is not the steering cable. I removed the top of the head of the trolling motor and confirmed that the cable moved the pedal and worked the pedal and it moved the cable on the end in the head. Is it possible that there is a set screw or key or shear pin broken? The round gear that goes down into the shaft is turning but theres something from the head to the motor that disallowing the motor to turn.PLEASE HELP AS I AM TRYING TO GET BOAT FISHING READY.

If I am not mistaken, the top gear is mounted to a shaft that runs down to a collar where the two pieces of the shaft split. The cast metal or aluminum collar has two allen head set screws that tighten down on the lower half of the shaft.
