    Exclamation What a difference

Well I took J. White's advice & swapped out the compact SI ducer on my 797 for the slab I was saving for a spare. OMG there is no comparison between the 2. We're talk'n Pinto vs Beamer here. Bigggggggg difference in the quality. Much more definition and clarity.

Now if HB would just fix the lag!

When you say slab are you talking about a si transducer for a 997?

Yep, Creekslick, 997. The one I've got is 'sposed to be nickle-shielded,
but it looks like all the other ones.

Hey Wiskers, glad it helped you :D I was really wondering if it was just me
and my unit, or what. Thanks for the feedback.

Even the regular downward sonar is better now,
just beautiful. It's even making me wonder whether there's any use
in keeping my big ole Vexilar Edge on the boat or not - and I NEVER
    thought I'd say that.

I'm getting better results at speed too, although I'll admit I didn't try very hard with
the compact 'ducer - but it would lose bottom at 10 mph or so, and with this
    one I'm reading depth at 30 mph+

Hey Mr. White. Again thanks for the post about the transducer. Really made a difference.
