My original 797 transducer is much smaller than the transducer HB sent to me after I couldn't get a clear picture on my trolling motor. I think HB said it had a nickel shield around it or it could have been something else(I've slept since then) but the picture was clear as my tv after installing it along with another thing they sent for the power cord on the trolling motor.
If you need the kit number I'll be happy to look up my receipt and give you the number. Just let me know.

here is an email Greg from Humminbird sent to me. I have my transducer mounted on my transom and not my trolling motor anyway.

    Dave,
The transom (XHS) and trolling motor (XTM) versions of the HDSi transducer are exactly the same - same size, same insides, same cable. The hardware that gets shipped with one versus the other differs is different. The mounting hardware for both the XHS and XTM versions is available separately.

Now there is a true trolling motor Side Imaging transducer (no adapter brackets) but it has the same insides as the 797's CSi transducer. It is the same as the 797's CSi transducer but it is shaped for fitting on a trolling motor.

If I were you I would get the same mounting type as what you have now with your CSi transducer.

I have the giant transducer on the back, and I bought the actual trolling motor transducer for the TM. The front one does a better job IMO.

Here is the transducer number HB sent me along with the trolling motor brkt.
Transducer: XHS 180 HD SI 180T (says it's nickel coated and twice the 797 size)
    Trolling Mount: AD STM 7

In my kit they also sent a trolling motor choke that is for my Minn Kota. I don't have a part number for it on my invoice or in the installation instructions.
Hope this helps - it made a fuzzy picture into crystal clear on mine

You sure it is not the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T
There is not a 180HDSI listed anywhere

Here's what you're look'n for. It's on ebay. The picture shown is not what it looks like, it is just a stock transducer picture.

    Here's the link.

How long have you had your unit? I only had my a few weeks and 2 fishing trips before I started reading about causes of my problem. Greg from HB responded back to me and told me to call support and tell them what brand of trolling motor I had. I did just that and the part number I listed is the one on the instructions. It looks the same as the transom mount but it came with an optional trolling mount.
Good luck and let us know what you do and if it helps you.

Called HB yesterday AM and complained. Got a box today with A new HDSI transducer and filters included. No charge!!! all for free!
In the process in swapping the transducers out. Should make a lake run this weekend or next week to see how she does.. I have had my 797 for over a year but was never happy with the SI function. SO I hope this bigger transducer will help out some. If not,,,well I'm not out any $$$
