    Default How Close??

How close can you put two transducers together?? I have a new 1197C SI and I want to put the transducer on the other side of the boat(transsom mount?? spelling) from my now X96. I have about 36" space, will that be enough??
    Thanks for any help.

Not sure exactly what you're asking, but if I understand correctly, you have the X96 mounted on the transom on the starboard (right) side and you want to mount the 1197 on the port (left) side. H'bird recommends mounting on the starboard side due to the prop wash from right handed props creating interferance on the port side in some cases. Having said that, I mounted on the Port side and it's done OK, but sometimes I'll pick up prop wash if I'm trying to move too fast while Si'ing. As far as proximity to the X96 ducer, I don't thing the proximity of the two would be a problem unless you're trying to run them at the same time - might get some interferance. The other issue, if they're too close together is possible blockage of the SI signal from hitting the X96 ducer. Probably won't happen as the H'bird sticks out a good bit further than a normal one.

All this is exactly why I bought a tranducer mounting plate - you might have to move it a few times before you get it right and the only way to know for sure is to mount it and try it. I've moved mine 3 times so far.

I agree with wannabe. The only thing you have to be careful with making sure you do not get any blockage from anything that is mounted on the other side of the transom. the reason being is the side imaging beams come directly out of the sides of the side imaging transducer. If you are getting blockage the image will look very dark.

My x96 transducer is on the port side of the transom. So I should be good putting the new one on the starboard side, correct???

Yes I would like to be able to run both at the same time, I will have 36"
between the two will that be enough??

Thanks for the feedback. I want to get it right to start with if I can
