    Default How tall ??

Another question. How tall are you guy's making your GPS mounts. On my 777c I just mounted it to the boat. It seems to work ok. But I have seen were some you have them on a tube above everything. Is this how they need to be mounted?? If so how tall do they need to be??
    Again thanks for the feedback.

Mine is mounted on a 3/4" pipe that is 4' tall. It is screwed into a 3/4" floor plate (Home Depot in plumbing). I just unscrew it to store & secure it with a bunjee. I plan to make a hinge to fold it down. Seems to work great since it is above the Bimmini top.

They don't necessarily "need" to be mounted that way, but it does make it a little easier to view both for moving it closer to your eyes and the angle you have to tilt your head is reduced. The pic of Cane Poles I've seen is awful sweet looking, but I don't know the measurements. I have my front electronics on a RAM mount which I believe is a standard 5" mount, making the total lift about 6" from the floor. In addition, my boat has an area on the bow that is not used for deck and it's mounted there. That's another 4" or so making the total lift 10" or there about. Works pretty good for me, but at times I wouldn't mind having it right in line with my T's on the pole holders, so that would be another 10" or so.

Doubt you could make them too high, but the problem of it being steady when you're running becomes an issue and also it limiting your access into the boat. Either problem could be overcome with making it removable I suppose.

The above is very rough estimates on my measurements, so don't use me as a guide. Just giving you an idea of my setup.

Sorry, I was talking about my GPS external puck.

My display is mounted on a 6" riser that I fabricated & installed on the dash just behind the windshield on my center console. this allows the unit to turn to the front for viewing.

Thats a good idea...my boat is exactly like this one....same color, model and all. The only I would have is going under some bridges...unless the puck rod can fold down.

My plans are to make a fold down hinge on this to make it a quick easy fold down. Since this pic was made I added a bracket that moved it out about 3" to clear the Bimini top, so that now it does not have to be up to use the GPS.
I just unscrew the pole & secure for trailering & parking in my shed.
I also have to remove my display when I park my boat under my shed.( I keep it in the house all time anyway)
