use cash to buy a reloadable credit card, have it shipped to work or friend-and no it's not wrong

Seems like you dont plan on keeping her for much longer, huh? Just let her know how much getting the unit means to you. If she's a keeper, she'll understand. If not, get rid of her and get it anyway.:D:D:D

The only place I found any info about this unit is at basspro.com. They have a decent spec's page for it but indicate it may not be in stock.
Humminbird is suppose to email me some info about it today. I guess it hasn't actually hit the market yet.

    1) I don't think I'd buy that from an Ebay seller. Supposedly, the unit is not yet available, so I'd worry about a scam.

    2) I have a 797 and I'm 40 years old with pretty good eyesite. So far, it's very interesting, but the screen is very small for all the information that is on it. Not that I can't see it, but it would be oh so much better with a larger screen. If I were to do it over again, I'd go for the 997 for the larger screen and hold out until the 2009 model is available. Supposedly, it will have a new GPS puck that picks up, up to 50 channels making it more accurate.

Threeriversmarine just announced that they have some in stock. (saw it on a bass site). You would be hard pressed to find a better company to order from. Honest, helpful, knowledgeable and good prices.

    Google threeriversmarine.com

Ordered mine yesterday from 3 Rivers. just tracked & says it will deliver Friday 11/21.
Seems like nice people to deal with. They were very friendly & helpful with my purchase. Better price than anywhere else also.

Hope you enjoy it. Almost didn't post about the 997 vs 797. Wouldn't trade mine for anything, except an 997. Well, OK, a 798 or an 1197 maybe, but that's it.

Ditto on three rivers. Only electronics dealer I recommend.
