    Question using gps

How do you approach using a gps with fishing hot spots card? Once you arrive at the location do you cast around to locate the spot or do you cruise around until you actually spot the item on your graph?

I drop a marker bouy when I'm close and then use my fish finder up front (my 997 is in the rear) to put my boat exactly where I want to be.

    Default gps

I think most people go to the spot and throw a marker out and use the sonor to locate the spot

    pistolpete,
Which GPS system are you using? I use a Garmin 378 GPS with a depth finder tranducer mounted on a extend able pole on the front and I usually find the spot a few feet before the GPS is down to zero. It also keeps from spooking the fish by getting to close.
I bought a Hummingbird 797 in hopes of having a GPS with the Side imaging but the GPS is so bad I don't even use it.

My antenna is mounted on top my console. I get about 100' away from waypoint so I can head to it in a good straight line. When my distance to go shows 10' or less I throw out a marker. I'm right on 100% of the time.
