    Default 997 Waypoint Accuracy?

I was wondering if the 997 can get the gps of an object that is several yards off to one side and if so what is the accuracy that it can put you on that spot?

The answer to the first part is yes. I'm not going to try and answer the second part as I use the GPS and SONAR differently. I use the GPS to get "close" to a waypoint, throw a marker, and move around the marker using the SONAR to locate what I'm looking for. It only takes me a couple minutes using this method and it always works. About the greatest distance I've been away from my marker when I found my spot is 30 feet. That is with either my LCX-27C or 997. The 997 almost always gets me closer.

PanMan that to me is the best way to find you spot regardless of what GPS you are using. I have 2 Garmin handhelds, GPS 72 (my 1st) and a GPSMap 76CX up front on a movable mount that I use as you say to get close and then use the TM and DF to get on top of your spot. I have the 72 on the pointer page and the 76 on the map page altho the map page for my main small lake is way off, don't have any thing but the base map and a couple of my best spots show up on land. The marker really comes in handy when the wind is blowing as I never anchor.
