If your xducer is 1' below the surface of the water then the fish at 4' are actually 5' below the surface. Most modern DFs have a setting you can compensate for the xducer depth. Its called keel offset or transducer offset.

In the picture below is the fish actually at 4 & 5' fow.
I have transducer on trolling motor,about 1' in the water.
I thought someone told me that I had to add or subtract some off of what is displayed.Any help is appreciated as this is my 1st ever toy like this![]()
